Born June 17, 1932 in Clarence, Louisiana along with twin brother, Johnny William Watson,   Lillian is the youngest of seven children.

In 1955 she moved to Los Angeles with her two young daughters and worked as a nanny, domestic maid, and shampoo girl in the Beverly Hills & Pacific Palisades areas of Los Angeles while putting herself through cosmetology school at a time when blacks where not permitted to be hair stylist in the white beauty salons.

After graduating from Vermont Beauty College in 1964, and determined to go into business for herself, she rented out a small store front located at 8020 S. Central Ave and opened her own beauty shop, ‘Lillian’s Beauty Nook’.

In 1972, she purchased a building at 1842 W. Florence and opened ‘Lillian’s House of Beauty’. Always believing in helping others and giving back, she would often provide free beauty services to those who could not afford to pay.

As an active community member in the mid 70’s, she joined ‘The Astro-Jets Democratic Club’ and was soon elected vice-president.

In the early 80’s, inspired by her passion for entertaining  and socializing (a talent she developed during her time spend working as a nanny & maid) she founded an all-female social club known as ‘The Sophisticated Traveletts’.

In 1982 she attended Founders United Church of Religious Science Holmes College, and graduated as a Science of Mind Licensed Practitioner.

Lillian continues to be active in her church and volunteering at local community and social service based organizations. She has been a self-employed, licensed cosmologist for over 48 years.

Welcoming new experiences, Lillian will be professionally retiring from this field as of May 26, 2012.
